The Day Everything Changed
When Adrian was 2, we noticed symptoms that his pediatrician dismissed. “He’ll grow out of it,” we were told. But Wendy and I knew something was different. The day Adrian was diagnosed with Autism, we felt lost, scared, and searching for answers that didn’t exist.
I remember lying awake at night, wondering: “What will his future look like? Will he be okay? How can I help him?” The uncertainty was overwhelming.
“That night, I made a promise to my son—I would learn everything I could about autism and sensory processing. I would become the expert he needed.”
That promise changed the trajectory of my life. I went back to school, not just for answers, but for solutions I could use with Adrian and share with other families.
My Journey
From confused parent to special education expert
Our son Adrian is diagnosed with Autism. We begin our journey into the world of sensory processing and special education.
I enroll in graduate school to earn my teaching credential and Master's degree in Special Education with a focus on Autism.
I begin teaching in a special day classroom, working with students with autism and sensory processing disorders daily.
I start testing sensory tools in my classroom, documenting what works and what doesn't with my students.
After years of testing, I launch Kidscalma to share proven sensory tools with families like mine.
Adrian is thriving as a teenager, and I continue to test products daily in my classroom and at home.
My Mission
To help families find calm in the chaos
Empathy First
I've lived it. I know the exhaustion, worry, and hope. Every product is chosen with genuine understanding.
Evidence-Based
My Master's degree and classroom experience ensure every recommendation is backed by real results.
Community
You're not alone. We're building a community of parents supporting each other through the journey.
My Classroom
Every product on Kidscalma is tested right here—in my special day classroom with real students, real challenges, and real results.
I’ve seen what happens when a child who’s been struggling finally finds calm. The shoulders relax. The breathing slows. The eyes focus. That moment of transformation is why I do this work.
Adrian's Journey
Adrian is now 17. He’s the reason I started this journey and the reason I continue it every day. Watching him grow, struggle, and triumph has taught me more than any textbook ever could.
He still uses the sensory tools we’ve developed—especially during stressful moments like exams or big transitions. Seeing him self-regulate independently is the greatest reward.
Adrian’s favorite tool? The weighted lap pad. He says it helps him “feel like everything’s okay” when the world gets too loud.
